ISD Approach
Many organizations are joining forces to address to address the world’s challenges in many areas: hunger, health care, education, poverty, conflict, governance, and the environment.
Stone Environmental collaborates with NGOs
and international organizations, such as the World Bank
and USAID, to provide tools, policies, and strategies
to improve decision making in these areas. Our information support systems
integrate data from diverse sources, define a strong decision framework, and build local capacity for
sustainability using tools such as GIS and Web-enabled databases.
We also help organizations monitor and evaluate the
impact of their decisions and investments.
We recognize the importance of legacy data. Often agencies with broad world missions reinvent the wheel, creating new baseline studies or incomplete databases because data management policy ignores existing information. Our staff has more than 30 years of experience with a wide range of organizations and ministries in Africa. This allows us to capture legacy information otherwise difficult to identify and obtain. We also help our clients develop practical data policy and management guidelines.
The breadth of our experience, our representatives and associates in Africa, our team of information application specialists, and our efficient management style provide clients with very cost-effective ways to use information in their decision making.
In addition to ISD, Stone’s other service groups use information management tools to facilitate better decision making in decentralized wastewater management, pesticide fate studies, water quality management, and hazardous waste site characterization. These include GIS for data analysis as well as display, customized databases, 3-D visualizations, Web-based information hosting, and geospatial models.
